SYNOPSIS: After witnessing disease and poverty in the slums of New York, Italian immigrant Francesca Cabrini embarks on a daring journey to persuade the hostile mayor to provide housing and healthcare for hundreds of orphaned children.

Alejandro Monteverde is a Mexican filmmaker. His debut feature Bella won the prestigious “People’s Choice Award” at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival. He went on to direct and co-write Little Boy (2015), a heartfelt drama set during World War II. Monteverde gained further recognition for directing and co-writing Sound of Freedom, a powerful film starring Jim Caviezel, Mira Sorvino, and Bill Camp. In 2024, he directed Cabrini, a biographical film based on the life of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini. In recognition of his contributions to socially impactful cinema, Monteverde received the Humanitarian Award from the Coronado Island Film Festival in 2022.
